Video coming soon: How HelloPros works for pros

  1. 1. Sign up free

Join with Google, Microsoft or your email address, then confirm your mobile so we can text you job alerts. It takes about a minute.

  2. 2. Choose your services and where you work

Pick the services you offer, then add one or more locations with how far you travel. You see your coverage on a map as you go, and you can change it any time.

  3. 3. Get verified

Our sign-up assistant runs your checks: Companies House for limited companies (or a short declaration for sole traders), public liability insurance and any licence your work needs. An ID and selfie check, DBS and work photos are optional. Each check adds a badge to your profile.

  4. 4. Build your profile

Add a photo or logo, a short bio and photos of your work. We draft your profile from what you tell us; you edit it.

  5. 5. Set up payouts

Add your bank details once, securely through Stripe. You can bid before this, but you need it to accept a booking.

  6. 6. Get job alerts and bid

When a customer near you posts a job you do, we let you know. Send a price and a short message. Bidding is free, and the fee you'd pay if booked is shown and fixed when you bid.

  7. 7. Chat, call and get booked

Answer the customer's questions in the chat or by call on HelloPros. Their contact details are shared with you only when they accept your bid.

  8. 8. Do the job and get paid

When the customer pays through HelloPros, the money is held until the job is done, then paid to your bank minus our fee.

  9. 9. Collect reviews

After the job, we ask the customer for an honest review. Only real customers can review you, and good reviews help you win the next job.

Tips to win more jobs

  • Reply fast

Customers often choose from the first few bids. Turn on alerts and answer questions quickly.

  • Be clear on price

Say what's included and what might cost extra, so there are no surprises.

  • Show your work

Photos of real jobs and a complete profile win more bids than a bare price.

  • Keep it on HelloPros

Chats, calls and payments on HelloPros are protected, count towards your reviews, and help if anything goes wrong.

Questions pros ask

How much does it cost?

Joining, your profile, job alerts and bidding are free, with no subscription. When a customer books you and pays through HelloPros, our fee is 15% of the agreed price (at least £5 and at most £250 per job, and never more than the job itself). Card fees are included. Some categories have their own rate; you always see the exact fee before you bid.

When do I pay the fee?

Never up front. The fee is fixed when you bid (the bid form shows “You'll pay £X if booked”) and is taken from the customer's payment when we pay you. If you don't win the job, you pay nothing. You get an invoice for every fee.

When do I get paid?

The customer pays the full price when they book, and we hold it safely (HelloPros Protection). When they confirm the job is done, or 3 days after the job date if they haven't raised a problem, we pay you the price minus our fee, straight to your bank through Stripe. You set up payouts once; you can bid before that, but you need it to accept a booking.

Which checks do I need?

Every pro goes through the same checks: your contact details, Companies House for limited companies (or a short declaration for sole traders and partnerships), public liability insurance, and any licence your work needs by law, such as a waste carrier licence for clearance or Gas Safe for gas work. NICEIC or NAPIT registration, an ID and selfie check, a DBS check, work photos and an intro video are optional, and each one adds a badge to your profile.

Can I cover more than one area?

Yes. Add as many locations as you need (up to 10), each with its own travel distance, or choose whole postcode districts or towns. You see them all on a map, and job alerts and matching use every one of them. If your services can be done online, you can also choose to be available UK-wide.

What if a customer pays me directly?

Customers pay through HelloPros when they book. That's what HelloPros Protection covers: the money is held until the job is done, and our team can help if something goes wrong. A payment made outside HelloPros isn't covered, so keep bookings and payments on HelloPros.

How do reviews work?

Only real customers can review you: people who posted a job you bid on, or booked you. We never hide reviews for being negative, never pay for reviews, and you can reply publicly to any review.
