How leads work

  1. A customer describes their job in plain words.

  2. We match it to up to 4 pros who do that work in that area, and the customer agrees to be contacted by them.

  3. You get a text with a preview: job, budget, postcode and timing. No contact details yet.

  4. Accept to pay the lead price (or use a free lead) and get the customer's name and number right away. Or pass for free.

  5. Call or text the customer, quote, and win the job.

How lead prices are set

  • The price depends on the type of job, your area, how big the job is and how many pros want leads like it. You always see the price before you accept.
  • Prices can't jump: a lead type's price moves at most 20% in a week.
  • Exclusive leads (sent only to you) cost 2.5× a shared lead.
  • If none of the matched pros responds within 2 hours, the lead becomes free.
  • Set a maximum lead price and a weekly budget, or pause any time.

You get the lead price back automatically if:

  • the phone number doesn't work
  • the request is spam
  • it duplicates a lead you got in the last 15 days
  • the job is outside your service area
  • it's the wrong kind of job for you
  • the customer never replies within 7 days (pay-on-reply leads)

Prices in US dollars per month. Jobs paid through HelloPros (tasks) carry a 10% fee, taken from the payout. Sponsored placement is optional and always labelled “Sponsored”.

Questions pros ask

My business is already listed. Is that you?

We start with public business-license data so customers can find local pros. Those listings say "Unclaimed". Claim yours for free to control what it says and start getting leads.

Do I have to buy every lead?

No. You see each lead's details and price first, and you can pass for free. You only pay for leads you accept.

How many other pros get the same lead?

At most 4, and at most one of them is a sponsored pro. Exclusive leads go only to you.

Can I control my spending?

Yes. Set a weekly budget and a maximum price per lead, choose your area and job types, or pause leads whenever you like.

How do reviews work?

Only customers who sent you a request or booked you through HelloPros can review you. We never hide reviews for being negative, and you can reply publicly to any review.
